In 2018 AMION carried out a summative assessment of the BioHub Accelerator project for BioCity.
This ERDF-funded project aimed to stimulate business growth and start-up in the life sciences sector in the Cheshire & Warrington LEP area and ensure that the resources at the Alderley Park site were fully utilised to the benefit of the sector. It also aimed to counteract the potential economic impact of Astra Zeneca’s (AZ) relocation to Cambridgeshire.
Support was provided at various stages in business development, from bootcamps to stimulate business start-up to mentoring and investment readiness support to businesses demonstrating growth potential.
The evaluation included a survey of beneficiaries (carried out by Spirul) and consultations with project staff from the partner universities and with the LEP. It also included case studies of three businesses supported through the project.
Our evaluation demonstrated that the project had been successful in achieving its targets and objectives.
